چکیده

Neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) magnets are the most powerful per unit volume sold in commercial market. Despite increasing demand for clean energy applications such as electric vehicles and wind turbines, disruptive events including COVID-19 pandemic have caused significant uncertainties supply NdFeB magnets. Therefore, this study aims to alleviate risk of shortage containing critical materials, rare-earth elements (REEs), through development a resilient reverse chain logistics network design. We develop scenarios model unique impact on proposed business, incorporating both disruption intensity recovery rate. formulate chance-constrained two-stage stochastic programming maximize profit while guaranteeing resiliency against risks. To solve problem large-scale instances, we an efficient Benders decomposition algorithm that reduces computational time by 98.5% average compared default CPLEX algorithm. When applied United States, suggests optimal facility locations, processing capacities, inventory levels, material flows magnet recyclers could meet 99.7% demand. best our knowledge, is first incorporate impacts design recycling network, leveraging risk-averse programming.

Benders, Nested Benders and Stochastic Programming

This article aims to explain the Nested Benders algorithm for the solution of large-scale stochastic programming problems in a way that is intelligible to someone coming to it for the first time. In doing so it gives an explanation of Benders decomposition and of its application to two-stage stochastic programming problems (also known in this context as the L-shaped method), then extends this t...

Scalable Parallel Benders Decomposition for Stochastic Linear Programming

We develop a scalable parallel implementation of the classical Benders decomposition algorithm for two-stage stochastic linear programs. Using a primal-dual, path-following algorithm for solving the scenario subproblems we develop a parallel implementation that alleviates the diiculties of load balancing. Furthermore, the dual and primal step calculations can be implemented using a data-paralle...

The Impacts of ICT on Urban Travels: A Significant Shift during the Covid-19 Pandemic

Transportation is one of the most important issues in today's cities. Urban trips and their spatial and temporal patterns influence and are influenced by other components and functions of the city. Information and communication technology have evolved rapidly over the last few decades and have influenced urban travel patterns in many ways. Numerous studies have attempted to study the effects of...

Benders decomposition in Constraint Programming

Recent work have exhibited specific structure among combinatorial problem instances that could be used to speed up search or to help users understand the dynamic and static intimate structure of the problem being solved. Several Operations Research approaches apply decomposition or relaxation strategies upon such a structure identified within a given problem. This paper presents how Benders dec...

The Pandemic Paradox: Concurrence of Covid-19 and Metabolic Syndrome

The health-care system should be ready to deal with a large number of COVID-19 patients who may require critical care. Patients with severe consequences should have well-rehearsed and structured protocols for quick identification, isolation, triage, and care plans. The higher incidence of metabolic syndrome combined with COVID-19 shows that concurrence of these two disorders, as well as the the...
